Projects – Mpumalanga
In Mpumalanga, Anova works in the the Bushbuckridge (1) and Thaba Chweu (2) sub-districts.

Achievements in the province include:
- Improvement to the infrastructure of clinics in Bushbuckridge
- Revitalisation and introduction of ART programmes in Thaba Chweu
- Optimisation of skills through the innovative rotation of medical staff
- Introduction of medical male circumcision services
- Implementation of improved record-keeping systems for clients on treatment

UCSF: Empowerment programme
Recognising the barriers to HIV prevention and treatment among men who have sex with men (MSM) in South Africa, the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) and Anova had a busy year in 2011 ensuring the groundwork is laid for the implementation of a health empowerment programme for MSM in Mpumalanga, South Africa.

The Rivoningo-Lesedi programme (“light” in Tsonga and Sepedi) supports the Mpumalanga Department of Health’s HIV care and treatment programmes in the Bushbuckridge (BBR) sub-district
