Projects – Gauteng
In Gauteng, Anova works in the City of Johannesburg Metro (1).

Achievements in the province include:
- Training and technical support for 341nurses to initiate ART (NIMART)
- Maintaining a globally accepted best practice transmission rate of HIV from mother to child at below 2%
- Together with its partners CHAPS, HIVSA and PHRU, Anova has helped ensure the delivery of high-volume medical male circumcision sites at Zola Clinic, Orange Farm and Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital
- Supporting HIV counselling and testing (HCT) in Soweto which, in partnership with HIVSA, has resulted in nearly 100,000 HIV tests
- Fostering productive working relationships with provincial, local and metropolitan health services.

Health4Men
Anova’s Health4Men initiative is one of the first projects on the continent to draw considerable attention to and address the sexual health needs of men who have sex with men in the context of HIV.
Anova's Health4Men clinics have developed innovative services and programmes to address the ‘gap’ in HIV prevention and care by providing sexual health services for MSM.
HIV & AIDS Media Project
The HIV & AIDS Media Project is a partnership between the Anova Health Institute and the Wits Journalism Programme. It hosts the journaids.org website and supports local media practitioners in engaging with the epidemic.
Tirisanong
Tirisanong’s PMTCT programme is active in 13 antenatal facilities in Soweto and the post-partum programme at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital in Soweto.
