Centre for HIV and AIDS Prevention Studies
The Centre for HIV/AIDS Prevention Studies (CHAPS) seeks to perform and support innovative and safe medical male circumcision procedures as part of a minimum HIV prevention package. Anova is the main funding partner of CHAPS.
Du Noon and Albow Gardens Community Outreach
Anova works with the New Somerset Hospital (NSH), a secondary level hospital with a large drainage district, including the West Coast and a large peri-urban township area. The highest burden of disease in this catchment area is in Du Noon and Joe Slovo.
Monitoring and evaluation: Tier.net
Anova is particularly proud to have supported the rollout of an e-register system in the Western Cape that led to the national uptake of a new monitoring and evaluation system for ART, called tier.net.
Using software developed by the University of Cape Town (UCT), Anova-supported facilities in the Cape Winelands and West Coast districts have successfully implemented electronic data collection at all ART sites within the last year.
UCSF: Empowerment programme
Recognising the barriers to HIV prevention and treatment among men who have sex with men (MSM) in South Africa, the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) and Anova had a busy year in 2011 ensuring the groundwork is laid for the implementation of a health empowerment programme for MSM in Mpumalanga, South Africa.
Groote Schuur Hospital
Anova provides HIV-related support to the Adult and Paediatric Infectious Disease Clinics as well as the Mental Health Programme at Groote Schuur Hospital (GSH).
HIVSA certified training for counsellors
HIVSA, with the support of Anova, offers ongoing training and professional development to staff and partners. This includes training nurses to dispense ARVs.

The Paediatric Infectious Diseases Unit (PIDU) at the Red Cross War Memorial Children's Hospital provides highly specialised treatment and care for children with infectious diseases and children with HIV who are seriously ill

This three-year project was initiated to explore the high disease burden of HIV reported on farms in the Western Cape.

Anova is working in partnership with the Western Cape Department of Health to support and expand access to HIV-services
Health4Men
Anova’s Health4Men initiative is one of the first projects on the continent to draw considerable attention to and address the sexual health needs of men who have sex with men in the context of HIV.
Anova's Health4Men clinics have developed innovative services and programmes to address the ‘gap’ in HIV prevention and care by providing sexual health services for MSM.
Tutu Tester and Gugulethu, Nyanga and Masiphumele clinics
Anova works with the Desmond Tutu HIV Foundation to support HIV-services at Gugulethu, Nyanga and Masiphumele clinics.
HIV & AIDS Media Project
The HIV & AIDS Media Project is a partnership between the Anova Health Institute and the Wits Journalism Programme. It hosts the journaids.org website and supports local media practitioners in engaging with the epidemic.
GF Jooste Hospital
GF Jooste Hospital is a secondary level district hospital in the Cape Metro that takes on complex cases referred to the hospital
Khutšo Kurhula
Anova’s Khutšo Kurhula project is funded by USAID/PEPFAR and supports the Limpopo Department of Health and Social Development in the Mopani District.
Rivoningo - Lesedi
The Rivoningo-Lesedi programme (“light” in Tsonga and Sepedi) supports the Mpumalanga Department of Health’s HIV care and treatment programmes in the Bushbuckridge (BBR) sub-district
Tirisanong
Tirisanong’s PMTCT programme is active in 13 antenatal facilities in Soweto and the post-partum programme at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital in Soweto.
