ART Paediatrics

Along with such organisations as Kidszpositive, Anova supports various projects that aim to assist children who have started or need to start ART. The projects aim to provide referral centres for children who require secondary and tertiary care (aged 0-18) and children who experience a greater challenge with adherence, including pre-adolescent and adolescent groups.

For example, the Kidzpositive Groote Schuur clinic offers individual support groups for “juniors” aged 10-12 and “seniors” over the age of 12. A new adolescent ward at GSH caters for young people requiring hospital admission. This is an important resource for patients presenting in adolescence, often with advanced AIDS-defining conditions.

Anova supports paediatric ART in the following of its projects:

  • Du Noon and Albow Gardens Clinics (WC)
  • Groote Schuur Hospital (GSH) (WC)
  • Tygerberg Children’s Hospital (TCH) (WC)
  • Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital (WC)
