The Perinatal HIV Research Unit (PHRU)
The Perinatal HIV Research Unit (PHRU), University of the Witwatersrand, leads studies into HIV and related illnesses.
PHRU is based at the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital in Soweto, South Africa. Anova Health Institute provides funds to PHRU to support access to antiretroviral treatment, care and counselling and testing for their clinic in the New Nurses Home at Chris Hani Baragwanath hospital.
The clinic provides essential care and treatment to many Soweto residents and complements the government’s programme.
