USAID

The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) is an independent agency that provides economic, development and humanitarian assistance around the world in support of the foreign policy goals of the United States.

PEPFAR

The U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) is the U.S. Government initiative to help save the lives of those suffering from HIV and AIDS around the world. This historic commitment is the largest by any nation to combat a single disease internationally. PEPFAR, through USAID, is Anova’s biggest source of funding.

Orange Babies

Orange Babies is a foundation that provides support for pregnant HIV-positive mothers and their babies in Africa. The foundation also provides support for children infected or affected by HIV. Anova’s Family Free project in Limpopo receives funding from Orange Babies.

National Institute of Allergic and Infectious Diseases (NIAID)

The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) conducts and supports basic and applied research to better understand, treat, and ultimately prevent infectious, immunologic, and allergic diseases. For more than 60 years, NIAID research has led to new therapies, vaccines, diagnostic tests, and other technologies that have improved the health of millions of people in the United States and around the world.

National Institutes of Health (NIH)

The National Institutes of Health (NIH), a part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, is the nation’s medical research agency—making important medical discoveries that improve health and save lives. NIH is the largest source of funding for medical research in the world. Anova is a partner in the NIH-Funded CIPRA-SA research programme as well as the International Maternal Pediatric, Adolescent AIDS Clinical Trials network (IMPAACT).

The University of California (UCSF)

The University of California, San Francisco is a leading university dedicated to defining health worldwide through advanced biomedical research, graduate-level education in the life sciences, health professions and excellence in patient care. Anova partners with the Center for AIDS Prevention Studies at UCSF’s AIDS Research Institute for its MSM-related work in Mpumalanga.

Global Fund

The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria provides grants on a discretionary basis in support of technically sound and cost-effective interventions.

Anova receives Global Fund support through the Networking HIV/Aids Community of South Africa (NACOSA) for its work with men who have sex with men (MSM).

Johns Hopkins Health and Education South Africa (JHHESA)

JHHESA: Johns Hopkins Health and Education in South Africa (JHHESA) uses a strategic communication approach that combines facts, creative ideas and theories to respond to health-related issues. Anova’s HIV & AIDS Media Project receives PEFFAR/USAID funding through JHHESA.

National Department of Health (DOH)

Anova Health Institute’s main partner in South Africa works with the National Department of Health, particularly in assisting with the implementation of the new national monitoring and evaluation system, tier.net.

Gauteng Department of Health and Social Development

Anova’s main implementing partners in South Africa are the various regional health departments of the provinces in which Anova’s projects are based. This includes the Gauteng Department of Health and Social Development. See Anova's Gauteng-based projects.

HIVSA

HIVSA offers comprehensive, therapeutic care to those individuals infected with and affected by HIV and their families, especially those living in impoverished circumstances.

Singizi Consulting

Singizi Consulting cc is Anova’s monitoring and evaluation consultant. Singizi Consulting cc is a closed corporation that takes a unique approach to project management.

The Perinatal HIV Research Unit (PHRU)

The Perinatal HIV Research Unit (PHRU), University of the Witwatersrand, leads studies into HIV and related illnesses.

Anova provides support to the PHRU’s antiretroviral treatment, care, HCT and MMC initiatives.

Kidzpositive

The Kidzpositive Family Fund is dedicated to improving the health of HIV-positive children in Southern Africa.

Through its paediatric work, Anova collaborates with Kidzpositive, which is based at the Groote Schuur Hospital for adult and paediatric support in the Cape Town metro.

Stellenbosch Hospice

Stellenbosch Hospice – “NO END TO CARING.” The hospice has been providing holistic palliative care and chronic healthcare to all the communities of Stellenbosch and the surrounding areas since 1992.

WITS Journalism

Anova partners with the Journalism Programme at the University of the Witwatersrand on its HIV & AIDS Media Project, through which it supports the South African media in covering the epidemic.

Lesedi Lechabile

Anova partners with Lesedi-Lechabile for its work in Mpumalanga.

Desmond Tutu HIV Foundation

Anova partners with the Desmond Tutu HIV Foundation (DTHF), based at the University of Cape Town's Institute of Infectious Disease and Molecular Medicine to support primary care clinics in greater Cape Town's and to provide mobile HCT services.

Stellenbosch University

Stellenbosch University (SUN), situated in Jonkershoek Valley in the heart of the Western Cape Winelands, is recognised as being one of the four top research universities in South Africa.

Anova partners with SUN through the Tygerberg Hospital, where it supports the Tygerberg Infectious Diseases Family Clinic.

University of Cape Town (UCT), Red Cross Children’s Memorial Hospital

Anova partners with the Red Cross Memorial Children’s Hospital through the University of Cape Town (UCT). UCT is one of the leading higher education institutions on the African continent and continues to play an important role in responding to the HIV challenge.
