More thumbs up for Zola clinic
2 August 2011
ANOVA IN THE NEWS: The Centre for HIV and AIDS prevention studies’ (CHAPS) Zola clinic is South Africa’s busiest medical male circumcision site, according to Gauteng health MEC Ntombi Mekgwe. The second busiest site is in Orange Farm. This facility is also run by CHAPS.
The online version of The Star newspaper highlighted this and other important points from the speech given by the MEC at the clinic’s launch last Friday.
Like previous releases on the Zola launch The Star article reported on the clinic’s astounding success since its opening in November 2010.
To date the clinic has carried out roughly 8,000 circumcisions and is able to carry out over one hundred circumcisions per day.
CHAPS is supported by the Anova Health Institute and funded by USAID/PEPFAR.
