21 February 2012

Last week (14-16 February 2012) saw Anova experts attending and presenting at an exclusive Regional Workshop on HIV Prevention among Men who have Sex with Men (MSM).

The event — presented by PEPFAR in partnership with Office of the Global AIDS Coordinator (OGAC) and with support from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and USAID — saw leaders in the area of Men who have Sex with Men (MSM) and HIV from over 22 countries invited to discuss outcomes, share lessons learned and review current practice and best practice.

Anova's Executive Director Prof. James McIntyre, Anova Chief Operating Officer Helen Struthers and Health4Men Advocacy and Training Manager Steve Letsike were among the five Anova experts invited to the workshop.

The Anova team presented information on medical male circumcision (MMC) and MSM; integrated strategies for addressing the HIV-epidemic as it applies to African MSM and tailoring MSM-focused interventions according to a human rights-based approach.

Anova’s innovative Health4Men initiative strives to provide quality medical and psychosocial care to men who have sex with men.
