Anova experts invited to attend PEPFAR workshop

Last week (14-16 February 2012) saw Anova experts attending and presenting at an exclusive Regional Workshop on HIV Prevention among Men who have Sex with Men (MSM).

The event-presented by PEPFAR in partnership with Office of the Global AIDS Coordinator (OGAC) and with support from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID)-saw leaders in the area of Men who have Sex with Men (MSM) and HIV from over 22 countries invited to discuss outcomes, share lessons learned and review current practice and best practice.

An interview with Anova doctor Sindi van Zyl, featured on the Africa Midday show on Channel Africa Radio on Thursday (16 February 2012), saw the HIV-expert addressing the problems and the progress in South Africa’s response to STIs.

In a show marking STI and Condom Week, Sindi cited patients’ fear of stigma as the main obstacle standing in the way of early and effective treatment of STIs.
